Municipalities & Co-ops

G.Hn advantage

Municipalities and co-ops can expand broadband access by using existing copper infrastructure, including coax and twisted-pair phone lines, already installed in MDUs. This makes it possible to deliver high-speed internet and 4K IPTV without the significant capital investment, construction, and operational costs typically associated with full fiber-to-the-home deployments.

Opticonn G.Hn technology provides a cost-effective alternative by bridging fiber networks to existing copper infrastructure. The MDF-6000 Coax GAM and MDF-2400 Twisted-Pair GAM convert 10GE fiber or XGS-PON connections for distribution over coax or twisted-pair phone lines, allowing service providers to deliver high-speed internet to multiple subscribers within an MDU.

The MDF-6000 includes six coax ports and can support up to 96 subscribers from a single GAM. For properties using twisted-pair phone lines, the MDF-2400 provides 24-port connectivity and supports both SISO, using one pair per port, and MIMO, using two pairs per port.

Whether using coax or twisted-pair cabling, both solutions provide reliable Gigabit broadband connectivity using G.Hn technology.

Several CPE options are available, including:
- Single-port 1000BASE-T Ethernet
- Four-port 10/100/1000BASE-T Ethernet
- Wi-Fi-enabled CPE

Depending on the service provider’s preferred configuration, each option can deliver high-speed internet to connected devices throughout the home.

Give your residents more

G.Hn efficiently delivers high speed broadband over legacy coax or phone line/twisted pair cable.  Our G.Hn technology has the unique ability to dynamically allocate bandwidth between downstream and upstream directions to effectively control real-time traffic conditions for optimal data flow with near-symmetrical performance using legacy cabling.  G.Hn technology allows Municipalities/Co-Ops to cost effectively offer Gigabit broadband services to subscribers in MDU’s, Town Homes, campus housing etc. which may have previously been passed by due to lack of cost effective technologies to deliver Gigabit services to these residents!
